Oscar’s Steakhouse, Hidden Treasure

Oscar's Steakhouse
<Entrance with Oscar Goodman’s photo>

The Oscar’s Steakhouse is well hidden on the 2nd floor of historic ‘Plaza’ hotel in Downtown Las Vegas.  The restaurant was named after the 21st mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman who was also called the happiest mayor in the world.

<Hallway with photos>

Once passed the entrance, the long hallway with lots of interesting historic photos greets guests.  It is interesting to watch all the photos with Oscar and famous people who visited the city of Las Vegas.

<Wines at the Bar>

We arrived almost an hour early till the reserved time, so ordered some wines.

<Outside Views>

The view from the bar window is not spectacular.  The Downtown Las Vegas definitely does not come with breath taking views, but it has its own old Vegas style charms.

<Inside the restaurant>

Glass dome with classical chandeliers is such a signature feature of this restaurant.  It makes everything very romantic.  Restaurant guests used to have the entire Fremont street view while dining until the Slotzilla Zip Line building was built.  Now, you can only see the glimpse of the street.  Inside is pretty dark, so it is difficult to take good quality pictures without bursting of flash.

<Pre Dining Bread>

The server brought breads to the table very promptly.  This bread was very dense, but flavorfully rich with full of garlic and cheese.  The butter served with the bread was typical everyday butter.

<Crab Cakes>

The choice of appetizer of the night was crab cakes.  The portion was big enough for two and it was full of crab meats.

Finally, the main dishes were served.  The Pork Chop had a strong smoked flavor, which set apart from other traditional pork chops.  The Filet Mignon 8oz was extremely silky and tender.

<Creme Brulee>

The Creme Brulee we shared after the meal was nothing out of ordinary.

This restaurant was definitely not one of those fancy, modern Las Vegas steakhouses on the Strip, but the food was just delicious, service was prompt and friendly, and most importantly, it did not break the bank.
